We are pleased to announce that we have recently acquired a Cone-beam CT that will be used as a diagnostic tool on a referral basis.

The Cone-beam Computed Tomography machine, or the CBCT machine, is widely regarded as the new pinnacle of 3D imaging technology, and it represents the official shift from 2D to 3D imaging. This machine uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam to take pictures of the skull and teeth.  It then uses those pictures, along with robust digital processing software, to reconstruct a 3D image.  CBCT delivers a significantly lower dose of radiation compared to conventional CT methods and has distinct advantages over 2D images, including providing 1:1 orthogonal representations of structures.  Compared to the several minutes it takes to perform a traditional CT scan, in most cases, a Cone-beam CT scan is completed in as few as 10 to 40 seconds.  For these reasons, CBCT is a valuable tool for 3D surgical planning.
